Unique Animals You Won’t Find At Most MN Zoos - Safari North

Need a fun and educational destination for your next family outing? Safari North Zoo in Brainerd, MN is a great place to visit with the kids and grandchildren! We have exhibits featuring animals from across the globe and plenty of fun facts to be learned about all of our animal friends. We have animals from North America, Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America. Here’s some of the rare zoo animals you and your family can see in our exhibits at Safari North.

Asia - White Bengal Tiger

Our zoo has beautiful big cats, including our White Bengal tiger. His gorgeous white and black appearance comes from a recessive pigmentation in his skin. Orange Bengal tigers are more common among other zoos, our rare white tiger is an uncommon sight to see in most Minnesota zoos and is a popular attraction at Safari North. This unusual tiger is amazing to see in person. Come see the difference between our orange and white Bengal tigers!

North America - Bald Eagle

Our Bald Eagle is one of our newest animal friends at Safari North. He was nursed back to health after being permanently injured and has made Safari North his new home! This young Bald Eagle is 5 years old and has been a great addition to our zoo family. Bring your family to learn about the United States national bird who was once on the endangered species list.

Africa - Patas Monkey

A zoo isn’t complete without monkeys! Our Patas monkeys are ground-dwelling monkeys. Patas monkeys are entertaining and fun to watch with the kids. They are the fastest primates in the world - their long legs allow them to get up to speeds of 35mph! If you have any monkey lovers in your family, we highly recommend visiting Safari North and spending some time getting to know the Patas monkeys.

South America - Kinkajou

With such a diverse climate, there is a lot to learn about the amazing animals that live in South America! The Kinkajou, or more commonly known as the “honey bear”, is a rainforest mammal. They have long tails that acts as an extra arm to help these unique South American animals climb trees. They have long, skinny tongues to eat honey directly from hives. The Kinkajou is a unique animal that we are pleased to be able to teach you and your family about!

Australia - Wallaby

Our Australian exhibit features an adorable Wallaby. Wallabies are from the same family as kangaroos (which can also be found at Safari North’s Australia exhibit) and are generally much smaller than their kangaroo relatives. These little Australian animals are a popular attraction among children who visit Safari North. Learn about the Wallaby and other interesting animals from the land down under!
