Lake George Municipal Complex in St. Cloud, a park typically known for it’s sunny summer festivals, will be turned into a Hockey Lovers dream on Friday and Saturday January 19th-20th as host of Hockey Day Minnesota 2018. The 12th annual Hockey Day Minnesota has fun in store for fans of all ages, so get out and join St. Cloud and all of Central Minnesota in celebrating the sport that has brought joy and passion to so many Minnesotans. In 2018, we’re taking Hockey Day to a new level. Make sure you don’t miss out on all the ice-y, slippery fun!

St. Cloud has taken steps to ensure that this year, Hockey Day Minnesota will be bigger, better, than any year before! There will be so many different things to do for hockey lovers or anyone looking for a little fun! You can participate in the Hat Trick Challenge or the Long “Hockey Putt” Challenge on Saturday. You can take your whole family to the selfie zones to capture cute and quirky photos. You can even play Hammerschlagen! What is Hammerschlagen you ask? Well… if you don’t know already you’re going to have to come find out for yourself. Trust me, it will be a blast! There will also be a children's recreational play area on Friday from 4- 7p.m. where your little ones can roam and get all their pent up winter energy out before you head home for the night. At some point of course the kids will get tired, hungry or cranky, and that’s when you can take a break in the tents of Inventure Village where you can warm up, eat some food, and shop for some Hockey Day Minnesota 2018 gear. As one last surprise, for the first time in it’s history, Hockey Day Minnesota will feature live bands to play between and after games on Saturday.
Andy Austin a cover artist whose favorite songs range from Jonny Cash, Matchbox 20, Ed Sheeran, and the Goo Goo Dolls, will perform around noon.
Walters Wheelhouse a previous Summertime at Lake George entertainer, will perform after the Women’s collegiate game around 3:00 p.m.
The Fabulous Armadillos will play from 7-10 p.m. in a show that is free to the public.
Andy Austin and Walters wheelhouse shows will be exclusively for Hockey Day Minnesota ticket holders.

Feast your eyes on the Ice- Live Games
There is no better way to celebrate Minnesota’s love for Hockey than to watch it being played by local talents, collegiate athletes, and the best of the best- NHL Professionals. Hockey Day Minnesota will be a day full of goals, saves, possible penalties, and plenty of live action on the ice.
Friday’s Events- 2 Showcase Games
The first two Hockey Day Minnesota events will take place on Friday night under the lights at Lake George. At 5 p.m. the High School girls of the St. Cloud Ice Breakers will play Sartell/Sauk Rapids Storms’n Sabres. Following that match, St. Cloud State University Alumni will close the night off with an inter-squad match facing off against their old teammates.
Saturday’ Events- 5 Showcase Games
To start off Hockey Day Minnesota 2018, at 10 a.m. you can watch the boys of St. Cloud face off against St. Cloud Cathedral at Lake George’s outdoor rink.
Next, at 1 p.m. the St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Team will face off against rival University of Minnesota-Duluth at Lake George in the first ever outdoor women’s college hockey game.
At 4:30 p.m. the Centennial boys team will play Moorhead at the Lake George Rink.
As the last event in St. Cloud, the #2 ranked NCAA Division I team, St. Cloud State University Mens Hockey, will battle against Minnesota State University- Mankato at Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
Finally, as the last event of the day, the sponsor of Hockey day Minnesota, the Minnesota Wild, will take on Tampa Bay Lightning at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
